In a press release, Gigabyte has stated that a new generation of AMD Ryzen Desktop CPUs will be released later this year.

AMD Has A New Generation of Ryzen Desktop CPUs Planned For Launch Later This Year, Reveals Gigabyte

The information comes from Gigabyte's announcement of entry-level AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU-based servers which were introduced today. The 1U Gigabyte servers feature the AM5 socket and support both 105W and 170W TDP CPUs for Edge and General Purpose computing workloads. Although the servers are designed with the Zen 4 generation of processors, Gigabyte ensures that the entry-level designs will be fully compliant with the next generation of CPUs too.

Following is the full statement in the press release:

Support for Future Generations of Processors Even though these new products are entry-level servers, CPU support does not end here and the AM5 platform is supported until at least 2025. The next generation of AMD Ryzen desktop processors that will come out later this year will also be supported on this AM5 platform, so customers who purchase these servers today have the opportunity to upgrade to the Ryzen 7000 series successor.

It is stated by Gigabyte that the AMD AM5 platform is supported until at least 2025 and the next-generation of Ryzen Desktop CPUs which will be the successor to the Ryzen 7000 family based on the Zen 4 core architecture, will be launching later this year and supported by their server solution.

We don't know which exactly new Ryzen Desktop CPU lineup is being mentioned here but it could either be a refresh of the existing Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs or it looks like AMD will be offering its Zen 5 Ryzen 8000 CPU line codenamed Granite Ridge by the end of this year. The AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPU lineup was launched last year in Q3 2022 so it makes sense to have a new family of Ryzen processors by the end of this year.

Based on what we know about Granite Ridge, the AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPU family is expected to feature the Zen 5 core architecture. The Zen 5 cores will utilize the brand new 4nm node and are going to feature some big architectural changes. Some of the key features of Zen 5 CPUs include:

Enhanced performance and efficiency Re-pipelined front end and wide issue Integrated AI and Machine Learning optimizations

AMD has officially stated a 2024 release for its Zen 5 core architecture but it may be possible that the red team has accelerated things for the desktop release. Otherwise, Gigabyte must be talking about some other Ryzen Desktop family which we don't know of yet.
